Purchase Limits & Tiers

Every wallet has a maximum number of campaign tokens it can buy in a single LGE. That maximum is set by your participation tier. There are five tiers, and this page lists all of them, what each one requires, and how much OHSHII you would need to lock to reach it.

TierMaximum tokens per LGEWhat it requires
Guest 👤1,000,000 (1M)Nothing — but pays the Guest fee (30,000 OHSHII, once per LGE)
Human 🧍4,000,000 (4M)Identity verified (World ID or DecideID) — no fee
Fish 🐟12,000,000 (12M)Verified + ≥ 2,000 VP + active voter
Shark 🦈18,000,000 (18M)Verified + ≥ 10,000 VP + active voter
Whale 🐋24,000,000 (24M)Verified + ≥ 30,000 VP + active voter

The cap is per wallet, per LGE — it resets for each new campaign. Every figure above is governance-votable: the ONS DAO can change the caps, the VP thresholds and the fee through a Critical proposal.

Three things stack, and all three are required for Fish and above:

  1. Verify your identity — World ID or DecideID. This alone takes you from Guest (1M) to Human (4M) and removes the Guest fee. OhShii never receives your name or documents, only an anonymous “verified / unique” signal.
  2. Lock OHSHII to earn Voting Power (VP)VP = min( √tokens × lock_months , 36,000 ). The lock must run at least 45 days (1.5 months); anything shorter earns 0 VP.
  3. Stay an active voter — vote on at least 2 of the last 3 countable ONS proposals. Locking alone is not enough: an unverified or non-voting wallet cannot hold Fish, Shark or Whale.

If you stop voting you drop back to the Human cap (4M) until you vote again. Your verification and your VP are kept — only the cap drops.

Because VP grows with the square root of the amount and linearly with the duration, locking for longer is far cheaper than locking more. Approximate amounts of OHSHII to clear each threshold:

Target6-month lock1-year lock2-year lock
Fish (2,000 VP)~111,000~28,000~7,000
Shark (10,000 VP)~2,780,000~695,000~174,000
Whale (30,000 VP)~25,000,000~6,250,000~1,563,000

A quick way to remember it: ~30k OHSHII for 1 year → Fish, ~180k for 2 years → Shark, ~1.6M for 2 years → Whale.

Two details that move the numbers slightly:

  • VP is computed on the net amount, after the locker’s 1% platform fee — lock about 1% more than the figure above.
  • VP from all your eligible locks is summed, then capped at 36,000 per wallet. Several shorter locks can add up to a tier, as long as each one is ≥ 45 days.

Use the Voting Power simulator to try your own amount and duration before committing.

  • On the campaign page of any active LGE. When a launch is running, the participation panel shows your current tier, the tokens you may still buy in that campaign, and what the next tier up would require. This is the authoritative number — it comes from the canister and already accounts for verification and active-voter status.
  • In the launcher, under Governance → How it works. The five tier cards are marked passed / current / locked against your own tier, so you can see the whole ladder and where you sit on it even when no LGE is running.
  • Your Voting Power is shown on the same Governance page once you connect a wallet and select OHSHII.

Unverified (“Guest”) wallets pay 30,000 OHSHII on their first contribution to each LGE. It is an anti-Sybil measure, not a universal cost: verifying your identity removes it entirely. The fee is held in escrow and refunded in full if the LGE fails; if the LGE succeeds it goes 100% to the OhShii treasury — it is never burned. Each LGE also accepts at most 50 Guest participants.

  • Lock Points are not Voting Power. Lock Points are a separate score shown in the locker; they gate nothing on OhShii. Only VP (plus verification and voting) sets your tier.
  • Delegation does not move purchase capacity. If you delegate your vote, the delegate casts your voting weight — but your LGE tier is always computed from your own locks. A large holder cannot lend their tier to anyone.

  • Voting — how voting works and what counts as a countable proposal.
  • Liquid Democracy — delegating your vote.
